In the summer, when the heat in the Eugene area causes the air to rise, the 'vacuum' created sometimes causes some off-shore fog to develop.  When this occurs, oftentimes the fog bank will stay just over Baker Beach, and travel at 30-40 miles per hour to the south!  It's really a spectacular sight!
