A mushroom hunter's gold mine, the myriad different varieties along this hike tax the imagination!  Another group of hikers from California arrived at the trail head the same time we did, but they were looking for edible mushrooms, and soon after both groups of us took to the trail, they disappeared, delighted at the abundance of what they were looking for.  Let's just hope they settled on only the edible ones!
